Handout from STEAM night - with links to resources from our event
On Thursday, January 26, 2017 we'll be having a STEAM Exploratory for our Kindergarten and First grade students (5:30-7:00). This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the 7 Habits for Happy Kids. Mrs. Ayotte, our vice principal, has been working with students in Kindergarten and First grade on STEAM projects. The Kindergartners have been building bridges and the First graders have been learning about plants. Projects from both groups will be on display during our STEAM Exploratory so that parents can come and talk with their children about what they have learned. This event is a family event for students in Kindergarten and First grade. All Kindergarten and first grade students attending the event must be accompanied by an adult. We will also have hands-on STEAM learning stations set up for families to explore with their children. Stations include:
Thank you to everyone who is working so hard to make this event possible:

In some of the activities students will be able to take home their newly acquired science tool (that they will make). Several science demonstrations will also be provided along with an overview of opportunities provided by NASA for future scientists and engineers. Registration is first come first served and is open to students in grades 2-5. Each student must be accompanied by an adult. Younger siblings are asked to stay at home. <registration details)
With the help of our volunteers from BOEING we just had our first Family STEAM Exploratory Night. Here's a video from this exciting event. Thank you BOEING and the Pu'u Kukui Elementary staff and PTSA!
We just finished our first trimester of our PLC rotation. While teachers are working in Professional Learning Communities, students in grades K-5 are participating in 6 different "Specials" classes. For our first trimester of Computer Science we began using the Project Lead the Way Computer Science Modules with our K-5 students.
